This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving department of Psychological Medicine in a large University Hospital NHS Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic and able individual to provide clinical input to the Pain Psychology Team for 1 year from July 2025 to cover maternity leave. The post is based in the Churchill Hospital in Oxford.
Clinical Psychology services for patients suffering with Chronic Pain have been provided for many decades in Oxford. You will provide input to the Oxford Pain Management Centre based at the Churchill Hospital. MDT meetings take place on a Monday, and ideally you would work Mon/Tue/Wed.
Evidence-based psychological treatments such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Compassion-Focussed Therapy (CFT), and Acceptance-Based therapies (ACT) are integrated within a multidisciplinary Pain Management Service. You will be supervised and managed by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist within the pain service and will work alongside pain specialists from other professional groups. Pain Psychology input is offered as a tertiary level service as referrals are only accepted from other members of the Pain team, ensuring specialist medical and physical assessment and intervention has been completed. You will be involved in carrying out individual and joint assessments, and one-to-one psychological therapy. Psychology is highly valued within the multidisciplinary teams and there is plenty of opportunity for you to develop your consultation, supervision, and teaching skills. Previous experience of working in the field of pain is desirable, but not essential.
